Describe Your Wedding Vision
My wedding vision was unique, whimsical and rustic. We chose Journeyman Distillery because it really fit our style and set the backdrop for the day. I knew I wanted really unique florals. I had met Kris of Sugarfield Flowers over the summer and told her what colors and flowers I liked, and she took control and showed up with the most beautiful arrangements I’ve ever seen. I knew I wanted blush to be one of the main colors. After looking at dresses at HCTD, I decide to do mix and match with blushes and nude tones. Andrew wanted navy suits, so navy was also a key color. I think they mixed together really well.
Describe Your Wedding Day
The morning started out rainy and gloomy but it turned into a sunny, perfect March day. We took A LOT of pictures. We started with a first look with my Dad and I, then one with Andrew and I. I would totally recommend doing this! We all were much more relaxed and could enjoy the day. Wendy and Mandy of The Willows were so patient with us and made sure we got all the shots we wanted. Our ceremony was short and sweet. A friend of Andrew’s, Mike Kellems, officiated. We did a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony (with signature cocktails), then the reception started. 27 Entertainment did a great job of playing music to keep people dancing all night long. We ended the night with walking tacos as our late night snack. I think they were a huge hit!
Your Advice to Engaged Couples
As stressful as wedding planning can be, try and enjoy it! Everything flies by so quickly. I highly recommend hiring a planner/coordinator. Our day ran perfectly on time and smooth thanks to Ashley Thunder’s team. She took care of all of the decorating, making sure everything was set up correctly, contacting all of the vendors, etc. There’s no possible way I could have done what all she did in one day. Also, choose an amazing photographer. We will have so many photos to remember our special day. Now we just have to decide which ones to print.
