Weddings are one of the most joyous occasions in one’s life. Planning can be fun for the couple as well as any family that is helping with the process! Unfortunately, life has a way of forcing us to multitask frequently and it can become overwhelming very quickly.  Have you ever heard the saying “Jack of all trades, master of none?” Juggling too much at once can lead to poor planning practices or even force wedding planning to the back burner.  Here are some tips to help keep you focused and assist you with the planning process:  

Give yourself time.  I know it sounds so simple, right? But as you may already know many wedding vendors are booking dates a year in advance.  Venues are even booking 18 months in advance.  Save yourself the stress and begin seeking out your favorite wedding professionals as soon as possible.

Keep yourself organized, and have a plan. Keep extensive notes on all of your vendors. Know what questions to ask and make sure each vendor works for your specific plan. 

Budget.  Decide what you and your fiancé can afford and stick to it.  Decide what items are most important to you and set a little more aside for that particular thing. Don’t forget to budget high for all of the incidentals you may be forgetting or any last minute add ons. 

Ask for help.  The last thing you and your fiancé will want to do is work on the day of your wedding.  It’s a day of celebration and you should be enjoying every minute of it. Hire a planner if possible or at least a month of coordinator if it is in the budget. If it doesn’t work with your budget, ask a friend or family member for assistance with the day.

Breathe.  Once all of the planning is said and done be sure to take it all in.  After all, it is your wedding day!  Make sure you prepare for the fact that you cannot control everything and just breathe in the beauty of the day.
