Old Hollywood Glamour

Submitted by Sarah Sage Photography

This 1920s styled shoot drew inspiration from the newly renovated Granada at the Morris Performing Arts Center. The Granada’s speakeasy look and feel inspired us to pay tribute to this unforgettable era and celebrate its glitz and glamour. We wanted to show brides that they could rewind time and really bring the 1920s look into any location today.

The geometric shapes, gold accents and mirrors paired perfectly with Merry Me Events’ exquisite decor and florals in the Granada. The darker green tones were complemented by the orange throw pillows and deep burgundy flowers. To top it off, the Granada is underground which couldn’t be more perfect when it came to creating this 1920s prohibition feel.

Emily of Sweet Em’s delivered in a spectacular fashion with a wedding cake whose details rival even the most experienced cake designers. She captured the essence of the era and the space with her fondant tuxedo top layer and bold, geometrical bottom layer. Merry Me Events accented this gorgeous cake with fresh florals and a satin green and gold throw.

When it came to our couple, we knew Simply Yours Bridal and Louie’s Tux Shop would echo our vision perfectly. Nate was dressed head to toe in the classic black and white tuxedo. This was the most popular dress of the time period and truly brings out the extravagance of how the Gatsby class loved to party in style. JR Fox Jewelers provided Nate with a handsome watch and sharp cufflinks. They have a new line of engagement and wedding rings whose design was chic yet totally timeless.

Michelle’s Morilee dress had full length sleeves and vintage-inspired lace overtop its ivory satin base. Simply Yours Bridal provided her pearl accessories from the earrings, necklace, headpiece and shoes. Her hair was styled in the popular finger wave of the ’20s thanks to Nidia of Blushing Beauty. This trademark look takes a true professional to pull off with its extensive set time. To finish her look, Chelsea of Makeup by Keria, was inspired by the flapper makeup of the era with its dark, smoky eyes and bold lip color. Chelsea has the talent to bring out the natural beauty of her brides no matter the style request.

We wanted to continue our Old Hollywood theme upstairs in the ballroom of the Palais Royale. If there’s one thing the 1920s are known for it’s their glamorous parties, and nothing is more glamorous than a ballroom that was actually built in the 1920s. Thanks to Richelle of the Palais, we were able to utilize both spaces to bring this era to life. Richelle worked tirelessly to ensure we had everything we needed, helped coordinate all the vendors and went above and beyond for us, just like she does for her couples.

Burns Special Events Rentals expanded our vision in the ballroom at the Palais with their elegant geometrical centerpieces, gold-rimmed charger, and gorgeous tablescape design. The table linen pulled in the dark green of the Granada, along with the bold florals. Everything, including the dessert, was dripping in gold and luxury. Navarre Catering made the most divine steak entree and chocolate dessert. A true royale affair.

Finally, to capture the full extravagance of the day, Sarah of Sarah Sage Photography, took our beautiful couple into the theatre of the Morris Performing Arts Center for a show-stopping end to our Old Hollywood day. She placed the couple in the center of the second balcony and lit them so that it appeared that a spotlight from the stage was illuminating them. The results…classical elegance that’s apparent in any era.
