Blueberry Bliss

Submitted by Olivia with Inheritance Photography by J&O

After picking blueberries up at Brookside Farms I was inspired by the various colors of the blueberries and wanted to create a blueberry inspired wedding shoot. It was already mid-July and blueberry season ends in August generally. So the turnaround time was only a few weeks. So, we needed to find vendors able to join us in such a short timeframe. Because of the stunning multi-colored wildflowers outside of Marion Magnolia Farms we wanted to shoot there. Along with the fact that their farm table and chairs are stunning, they created a beautiful and vibrant backdrop to our outdoor tablescape. While we didn’t really use the inside of the venue, IT IS STUNNING. Brittany & Nick truly created a space that can match almost any style or theme of a wedding as the combined rustic, elegant, and modern decor throughout their venue. We think though, that the overlooked gems of the venue are its grounds. The landscape and florals throughout are well kept and create a wide range of backdrops for wedding photography and videography. We wanted to capitalize on the luscious and colorful outdoor space rather than the stunning inside chandeliers and rustic wood.

For the wedding dress we were looking for something flowy and whimsical but also girly and fun. When we approached Simply Yours Bridal with our vision board they pulled a few dresses for us. Their team is so friendly and fun. We loved getting to go with Lexi to try on the dress and be a part of the whole experience. In fact, the first one they brought out wasn’t even one I had shared but was EXACTLY what we were looking for. It fit our model perfectly and was a great mix of girly and elegance with it’s sparkle beading, bishop style sleeves, and flowy skirt. Maggie Sottero was inspired by shakespearean and valentine-y timeless vibes and we couldn’t agree more that this dress is one for the ages. Every dress we tried on after that, though still gorgeous, paled in comparison.

The color palette was inspired by the wildflowers at Marion Magnolia Farms and the Blueberry bushes at Brookside Farms. I gave Leah from LB Floristy full release to use whatever flowers she desired along with the bush sprigs of blueberry and some of the wildflowers at Marion Magnolia Farms. She is a floral genius and I wanted her to be able to be as creative as possible. Her use of different textures and colors came together to make an effortlessly elegant and interesting bouquet and centerpieces.

Hair was done by Tiara from Tiaras and Veils Hair Artistry. We wanted the hair to have movement and be at least partially down with some of the wildflowers on top of the veil to tie into the theme. We gave some inspo to Tiara and she did a great job of bringing our vision to life. If you’re looking for a hair stylist for your big day Tiara is brilliant at creating so many stunning hair styles and she’s such a fun, joyful soul. For makeup, I told Jenn from Jenn Martz Makeup Artistry we wanted a more natural look that matched the dress and colors. She did a flawless job allowing for Lexi’s freckles to still pop through.  For the eyes she used a soft purple and the lips and cheeks were a light pink.

When we decided to do the shoot I knew I wanted to use Debby Does Dishes owned by Megan. They have a plethora of stunning china with various patterns and colors. She brought both a mix and match of blue colored floral patterns and the soft blue pattern we ended up going with. She also provided the gorgeous silverware, charger blue water goblets, and floral champagne glasses. The rest of the decor was a mix of personal items, Marion Magnolia Farm’s candlestick holders, and Leah from LB Floristry brought the floral vases and table runner. Also, we had blueberry muffins from Brookside Farms in Paw Paw, MI instead of going with a cake. They were moist and full of flavor. Not too sweet but just the right amount of buttery and flavorful.
