Describe Your Wedding Vision

In our initial planning meeting with MerryMe Events, Cher asked about our vision, and I wrote: “We are envisioning a vibrant fall garden party meets intimate, moody, romantic candlelit dinner party—thrown by a creative friend. Lots of wine and dancing.”

To expand on that, our wedding vision was traditional, but with a twist. We were always trying to find the balance between timeless and fun in every detail. We knew Notre Dame in October would bring its classic autumn charm, but we wondered: What if we turned that into a candlelit garden party? What if we transformed a traditional ballroom with a big black-and-white dance floor and super low lighting? If we stepped away from typical fall colors and went brighter? What if we made it black tie, but airy? Classical music and disco?

This gave us, and our planner, Corinne, a creative playground. From florals to napkins, the cake with a garden, the dresses, the veil, and the entertainment, we wove that vision into every detail, big and small.

Describe Your Wedding Day

Our wedding day went by in a flash! We woke up to a morning full of laughter and anticipation while getting ready with our respective bridal parties. We shared sweet moments with our families exchanging gifts and letters. After our first look and private vows, we rejoined our bridal party, with the bridesmaids stunning in the colorful gowns they each chose and the groomsmen looking classic in their tuxes.

The day truly came to life when we arrived at St. Pius, a stunning cathedral, and saw our guests, many of whom embraced our floral-themed dress code.

Walking into cocktail hour and the reception, we were blown away by how it all came together, thanks to MerryMe Events. A live piano player performed songs requested by our guests, drinks were passed with flowers, a floral installation dripped from a chandelier, and moody tables full of blooms surrounded the black-and-white dance floor in the candlelit ballroom.

After a delicious meal and heartfelt speeches from my dad, the matron of honor, and the best man, the DJ took over—and we never saw the dance floor, the bar, or the photo booth empty. It was a dream.

Your Advice to Engaged Couples

Wedding planning mirrors marriage in many ways: making big decisions together, celebrating life events with family, budgeting, logistics, it’s a great opportunity to lean on each other’s strengths. Christian excels at financial management, and I thrive in creativity and logistics, so we defined our roles around those strengths.

Also, take time to enjoy the little moments along the way—working on the playlist together, practicing your perfect dip in the living room, picking out honeymoon wine tastings and restaurants, debating frosting flavors and instantly knowing each other’s favorite. Those are the moments we’ll cherish the most about being engaged, even amidst the pressure of planning.
